New Defibrillator at IPS Seaham

IPS Defibrillator

A new defibrillator has been installed at IPS Flow Systems, at our facility in Seaham.

IPS Flow Systems recognises the importance a defibrillator can have on a person’s survival and recently took delivery of a defibrillator.

A victim’s chance of survival falls around 7 to 10 percent with every minute that defibrillation is delayed.

When a heart stops beating, oxygen is not being transported to the brain and other vital organs, and within four to five minutes, brain damage will start to occur without intervention.

IPS Flow Systems have expanded their emergency first aid at work team from two to four and Karen Angus and Michael Potter, who are also Mental Health Fist Aid Champions, recently completing a three-day first aid at work course with St John’s Ambulance joining Ian Parkin & Richard Eltringham in the team.

Karen Angus, Finance Director, confirmed "you cannot hurt someone with a defibrillator because it will not work unless the person is in cardiac arrest.  In the past equipment like this used to require hours of training but now with it being fully automated, clear instructions are given so that anyone can use it if required".

Managing Director Andrew Lamb said "We want to make our neighbours within the trading estate [and further afield] aware that during our trading hours, our defibrillator is their defibrillator!"

The defibrillator will be kept within our reception area we invite first aiders from our neighbours to visit to get acustomed to where it is situated.

IPS have a clear focus to be the Number One partner for our Customers, Suppliers and our People.
