UNBLOCKTOBER

IPS have partnered with our friends at Unblocktober this October and have allowed them the use of our social media platforms LinkedIn & Instagram  for the full week (w/c 10th october)

Why have IPS decided to help Unblocktober?

Unblocktober is the world’s first month-long campaign in which businesses nationwide aim to raise awareness of the health of our drains, sewers, watercourses and seas.

Britain’s sewers network is facing ever-increasing pressure due to misuse, as people continue to pour fat, oil and grease down our drains and plastic down the toilet, resulting in fatbergs and blockages.

Why have Unblocktober agreed to takeover IPS Social Media?

For over 30 years IPS have been the UKs leading supplier of industrial platic piping systems, with over 2000 active customers and 3000 followers on Linkedin and 1000 on instagram, IPS are well placed within the industry to  be heard for such a great campaign,

How are we harming the environment?

When people pour FOG down the drain and incorrectly flush items down our toilet, it is not only damaging Britain’s sewers system, but also our river and seas.

Approximately 8 million pieces of plastic find their way into our rivers and seas every day!!

Many household items contain hidden plastic that are damaging to our environment. These include cotton buds, nappies, and facewipes which are non-biodegradable. By disposing of these items correctly and stopping flushing them down our toilets a real difference can be made to save our sewers and our seas.

What can you do?

This is the important bit.

This year, you can get involved in Unblocktober by paying more attention to the liquids you are pouring down the sink, and the items you are flushing down the toilet, you or your business could significantly reduce the negative impact on the environment.

Throughout October commit to not pouring FOG, including cooking sauces and condiments, as well as food waste down the drain. Also stop flushing plastic down your toilet, including facewipes and cotton buds.

If we all work together, we could potentially see huge improvements to the environment.
