Can Agruline pipes and fittings be used in customised solutions?
AGRULINE is an ingenious piping system cmprised of ultra-robust PE100 and PE100-RC materials for use in water and gas supply as well as wastewater disposal. Decades of product developemnt have turned AGRULINE into a highly cost effective piping system unlike any other.
All of the AGRULINE range is manufactured in one factory to ensure that there is perfect fit between all components. The range is available in sizes OD 20mm to OD 3500mm.
Products are certified to EN12201 / EN1555, ISO 4437, ISO 4427, OVGW, DVGW & PAS1075.
Agru - PE100 & PE100RC
HDPE piping systems made of polyethylene (PE 100 and PE 100-RC) by AGRU are characterized by high toughness and very good chemical resistance, and can be used from -40 °C to +60 °C. Other characteristics of AGRU products made of PE 100 and PE 100-RC include the following:
- good resistance to wear
- very good electrical insulation
- high vibration damping
For decades now, pipes, fittings and semi-finished products made of PE 100 and PE 100-RC black have proven to be reliable when used outdoors. The addition of special carbon black types (approx. 2 %) ensures light and weather resistance. The products made of PE 100 and PE 100-RC black are unaffected by natural UV radiation.
The development of polyethylene materials and their use as material for our products has reached its current peak with a design stress (minimum strength) of 10 N/mm2 in terms of mechanical stress resistance. In recent years, further development has focused on „resistance to stress cracking“. These raw materials are referred to as „PE 100-RC“. Now the development of the PE 100 type into an „RC“ material is not only being used in and benefiting the pressure pipe sector, but also tank construction. The main technical advantage of PE 100-RC is that it is significantly more resistant to crack growth. This is reflected by the minimum service life produced by the FNCT („full notch creep test“), which is > 8760 h compared to 300 h for PE 100 materials. Products made of PE 100-RC materials therefore exhibit significant advantages for applications with media that cause stress cracks. As a result, it is possible to develop new applications involving PE 100-RC and to increase the service life considerably.
Agru Polypropylene
Polypropylene (PP)
Polypropylene (PP) is a partly crystalline thermoplastic similar to HDPE, but with higher stiffness, strength, and hardness levels. It is also characterised by very good chemical resistance. Polypropylene can be used in temperatures of up to 95 °C. However, below freezing point PP is very sensitive to impact (use at temperatures below - 5 °C should be avoided).
AGRU products made of PP are also characterized by the following:
- a low density of 0.91 g/cm3
• relatively high surface hardness
• electrical insulation properties
• high creep strength
PP - The ideal material
PP is the ideal material for use in pickling plants, the chemical industry, and also for extremely aggressive waste water, as chemicals are used at high temperatures in these areas. The AGRU product range includes various PP polymer types:
- PP homopolymer (PPH), which is made up exclusively of propylene molecules.
• PP random copolymers (PPR), a polypropylene in which statistically distributed ethylene monomers are integrated into the molecular chain.
• PP copolymer (PPC), a polypropylene block copolymer in which ethylene monomers in block form are integrated into the molecular chain.
All three propylene types are very thermally stable, perfectly compatible, and can be easily integrated into all standard welding procedures as per DVS 2207. Semi-finished products made of grey polypropylene are not UV-stabilised and therefore need to be protected accordingly.
Agru ECTFE Halar® Piping Systems: the premier league in thermoplastics
The excellent chemical resistance in combination with a higher temperature and pressure resistance makes ECTFE to an essential material in the chemical industry. AGRU Kunststofftechnik as a pioneer in the processing of technical plastic materials has more than 30 years of experience in manufacturing of pressure resistant ECTFE piping systems and semi-finished products made of ECTFE (Halar®).
A “unique” material with “unique” material properties”
ECTFE is offered by Solvay Speciality Polymers under the trade name Halar®. Halar® products consist of a copolymer with ethylene and chlorotrifluoroethylene arranged alternately.
High mechanically strength combined with excellent impact properties
ECTFE (Halar®) belongs to the group of the partly fluorinated polymers, which are characterized by a high mechanical strength. Thus, ECTFE (Halar®) is a perfect choice for pressure pipes in harsh environments. Due to the fact, that ECTFE is a copolymer with ethylene groups the impact properties are excellent. Thus, ECTFE (Halar®) is a material, which combines both properties, stiffness and elasticity in a perfect way.
ECTFE (Halar®) has a perfect chemical resistance from pH range 1-14 up to 120 °C
AGRU ECTFE (Halar®) piping systems can be used in a pH range from 1 – 14, even 98 % concentrated sulphuric acid (H2SO4), 70 % hydrofluoric acid (HF), 50 % sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and 36 % hydrochloric acid (HCl) can be handled safely up to +120 °C for a long period of time. Also for highly oxidative applications such as sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), chlorine gas (Cl2), ozone (O3) AGRU ECTFE piping systems are the best solution. Compared to PVDF, ECTFE has a better chemical resistance, especially when exposed to lyes. Furthermore, this material demonstrates excellent resistance to the corrosive influence of heat, strong radiation, and weathering.
Ideal for high purity applications
ECTFE (Halar®) is distinguished from all other fluoropolymers by its exceptional surface smoothness, which precludes the shedding of particles and avoids particle trapping. The surface exhibits a low deposit of microbial biofouling, making it ideal for the use in UPW applications.
Further features of ECTFE (Halar®)
Its excellent welding properties and thermoplastic formability make simple and cost-saving processing possible, both in the workshop and on-site. As a partially fluorinated polymer ECTFE shows a high flame retardancy and resistance to microorganism growth. Further properties are a high resistance to UV (sunlight) and gamma radiation and high insulation and electrical resistances. AGRU Halar® piping systems are therefore the perfect choice for all purposes.

The biggest ECTFE product range in the chemical industry
AGRU is able to offer the most comprehensive ECTFE delivery program in industry. ECTFE piping systems, fittings, valves, sheets and round bars, everything comes from one single source, made in Austria. Due to the special production processes, pipes can be produced in high purity up to a diameter of 110 mm as a standard item. Diameters up to 200 mm are available on request.
To complete the piping supply range, fittings and valves are available in stock in several dimensions and geometries. AGRU is not only producing ECTFE (Halar®) for piping systems, but also semi-finished products, which are required for the construction of chemical resistant tanks and plant components. To cover all possibilities AGRU is offering natural ECTFE sheets for solid tank construction and fabric backed ECTFE sheets for lining applicationsof steel or FRP structures. The table beside will give you an impression on the ECTFE product range of AGRU.
AGRU IR- welding technology
AGRU´s long standing welding experience is bundled in the compact SP-series welding machines. They provide a fully automatic, contact-free welding process, with all welding parameters pre-programmed in the machines. Thermally fused joints have the highest integrity over all other joining methods typically used in industrial piping systems.
Long-time experience of AGRU in ECTFE piping systems
AGRU ECTFE piping systems and semi-finished products have been in use since 1990 in hundreds of applications worldwide. These include complete programm, complete system, comprehensive dimension range and 30 years of experience in production and application. An increasingly important application is the chlorination of cooling water intakes for the use thermal power plants. AGRU also supplies double containment piping systems with ECTFE media pipe.
